Solar Together Midlands - Consortium Pilot

Purpose
This initiative will assist with achieving the
aims and objectives within the Council’s Climate Change
Strategy.
This scheme is specifically targeted to homeowners and SMEs that
can provide capital investment for renewables, otherwise known as
the ‘able to pay’ sector. There will be no obligation
on participants to proceed with the scheme if the cost is above
their budget or if they identify alternative, more competitive
solutions.
From the local authority perspective this option is cost effective
as it shouldn’t require any procurement or local authority
resources to be delivered as the process is fully managed by
iChoosr / Solar Together.
Content
(1) The Council enters into a 4-year Agreement
with iChoosr that will enable participation in a pilot project and
any further Solar Together auction rounds during that period.
(2) The Council enters into a grant agreement to enable receipt of
£2,124 from the Midlands Net Zero Hub (MNZH) to pay for the
cost of letters to targeted households from iChoosr, sent on the
Council’s behalf.
Alternative options considered
An alternative option that has been considered
by the Midland Net Zero Hub is Make My House Green. However, this
model requires LAs to procure the services from this company and
have much more involvement and responsibility on delivery of the
scheme. This is an option more suited to local authorities that
have available resources to dedicate to the scheme.
