Purpose
This report updates the Local Development
Scheme for Sefton to cover the Period 2025-28 and specifically
provides a timetable for a new Local Plan as requested by the
Secretary of State.

That Cabinet Member approves the Local
Development Scheme (March 2025) for Sefton 2025-28.
Reasons for the
Decision(s):
Under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act
2004, each Local Planning Authority must prepare a Local
Development Scheme (LDS). The LDS is a project management document
for the production of the Local Plan documents, including Area
Action Plans, for a three-year period. An LDS can also identify
which Supplementary Planning Documents the LPA intends to produce.
The most recent Local Development Scheme for Sefton was published
in June 2024.
Alternative Options
Considered and Rejected
None. The Council is required to maintain an
up-to-date Local Development Scheme and has been instructed to
produce a timetable for a new Local Plan.
