Purpose

(i)   
To ask Cabinet Member - Communities and Housing to
agree the Community Transition Fund recommendation.
 
(ii)  
To update Cabinet Member on financial commitments to
date from the Community Transition Fund.
 

Decision

Decision(s):
 
That the following awards from the Community
Transition Fund be agreed:
 
(i)       £10,000 to
Regenerus, as set out in section
1.1.5
 
(ii)       £5,000 to Our
Lady Queen of Peace Syro-Malabar
Catholic Church, as set out in section 1.2.9
 
(iii)      £5,000 to Sefton
CVS, as set out in section 1.3.7
 
(iv)      £2,500 to Southport
African Caribbean Heritage Association, as set out in section
1.4.7
 
(v)      That subject to the above
recommendation being agreed, to note that the commitments against
the Community Transition Fund will total £1,482,436 as set
out in section 1.5
 
Reason(s) for the
Decision(s):
 
Regenerus (South Sefton Development
Trust), is a Charity and social enterprise delivering community
environmental activities under the umbrella of Taking Root in
Bootle.
 
Our Lady Queen of Peace is a Catholic church
for the Syro-Malabar community.
 
Sefton CVS have established a number of grant
funds for different events, such as the Queen’s Platinum
Jubilee and the King’s Coronation Fund, to provide a range of
community groups with small grants to deliver events that bring
communities together.
 
Southport African Caribbean Heritage
Association (SACHA) is a group established to promote cultural
awareness, community cohesion, and social welfare for the benefit
of the African and Caribbean community in Southport and surrounding
areas.

Cabinet Member has agreed the
criteria and process for allocating this fund.
