Sefton Council Housing Furniture Policy
July 7, 2025 Cabinet Member - Housing and Highways (Cabinet member) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
The purpose of this report is
to seek approval to the adoption of a Furniture Package Policy for
the Council’s landlord function setting out details of the
furniture service offered, including eligibility for the
scheme.
Decision
Decision(s):
That the adoption of the Furniture Package
Policy as part of the wider suite of Council housing policies be
approved.
Reason(s) for the
Decision(s):
Key essential policies are required to ensure
the effective management and maintenance of the Council’s
future properties and tenancies. The decision to introduce a
furnished tenancy scheme as an offer to tenants means that it is
necessary to set out details of the scheme for tenants for the
administration of the scheme.
Further policies may be required as the
Council progresses with the delivery of new homes and takes more
homes into management.
Alternative Options
Considered and Rejected
The Council could opt not to adopt the policy.
This option is not recommended as it would leave the Council
without a robust policy framework for the management of its
properties and tenancies. Tenants would be unclear as to the
Council’s approach to service delivery and the Council would
also be at risk of non-compliance with legislation, regulation and
the Complaint Handling Code.
