Purpose

The purpose of this report is
to seek the Cabinet Member’s approval for the adoption of
Damfield Lane Conservation Area
Appraisal and Management Plan.

The approved adoption of Damfield Lane Conservation Area Appraisal and
Management Plans for Public Consultation (Appendix 1) as a
background planning document, where their contents were a material
consideration in the determination of planning applications, be
noted.

 

Reason(s) for the Decision(s):

 
The
adoption of the Damfield Lane
Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan will enable the
Council to fulfil its statutory duty to formulate and publish
proposals for the preservation and enhancement of designated
conservation areas. This document clearly defines the special
interest that justifies the area's designation and provides a
detailed assessment of the features that contribute to its unique
character and appearance. Once adopted, the document will serve as
a background planning document, ensuring that future development
preserves and enhances the appearance and character of the
conservation area.
 
All
associated implications can be managed within existing
resources. 
 
 

Alternative Options Considered and Rejected:

 
The alternative options
are that no Conservation Area Appraisal nor Management Plan are
carried out which would not be in the best interests of preserving
and enhancing Damfield Lane
Conservation Area.
