Purpose

This report seeks Cabinet Member consideration to approve an award of discretionary rate relief to a non-profit making organisation under the provisions of section 47 of the Local Government Finance Act 1988 (as amended by section 69 of the Localism Act 2011).

Decision:

1. The approved application from West Lancashire Yacht Club and awards 80% discretionary rate relief for the financial year 2026-2027 amounting to £2,808.00, be noted.

Reasons for the recommendation:

The non-for-profit organisation plays a key role in the local community by providing sporting, leisure and social facilities than can be accessed by individuals and groups of all ages and abilities. A discretionary relief award for the period 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027 will allow West Lancashire Yacht Club to continue delivering these services to the local community.

Alternative options considered and rejected:

None. However, Cabinet Member may refuse the application or choose to award a lower level of relief.
