Purpose

The purpose of this report is to seek approval from the Cabinet Member for refurbishment works to be completed on the currently vacant building located adjacent to the Pinefield site in Formby to provide additional S19 places.

Decision

Decision(s):

1. The approved supplementary allocation of £400,000, to be funded from unallocated balances within the High Needs Capital Grant in order to ensure that the essential additional works identified could proceed, be noted.
2. Authority was delegated to the appropriate officers to procure the works in accordance with the Council’s Contract Procedure Rules, and to proceed with the procurement and implementation of the required works, be noted.

Reasons for the recommendation:

Once the additional funding for the essential works is approved, the project can be completed as agreed. This will enable us to increase the number of children attending group sessions and reduce the costs associated with tutors delivering tuition in the home.
