Purpose
This report seeks Cabinet Member consideration to approve an award of discretionary rate relief to a non-profit making organisation under the provisions of section 47 of the Local Government Finance Act 1988 (as amended by section 69 of the Localism Act 2011).

Decision(s):
- The approved application from Aintree Initiatives for Performing Arts CIC and awards £3,201.84 discretionary rate relief for the financial year 2026-2027, be noted.
- The discretionary rate relief applied for is in respect of the premises known as The Old Presbytery, Aintree Lane, Aintree, Liverpool, L10 2JJ, be noted.
Reasons for the recommendation:
This recently established not-for-profit organisation aims to play a key role in the local community by offering inclusive arts and social programmes to advance education and wellbeing, reduce social isolation, promote equality of opportunity, support personal development and strengthen community cohesion. A discretionary relief award for the period 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027 will allow Aintree Initiatives for Performing Arts CIC to strengthen its infrastructure, enhance programme delivery and build sustainable partnerships, ensuring long-term viability
Alternative options considered and rejected:
None. However, Cabinet Member may also refuse the application or choose to award a lower level of relief than the level recommended.
