Purpose
This report seeks Cabinet Member consideration to approve an award of discretionary top-up rate relief to a non-profit making organisation under the provisions of section 47 of the Local Government Finance Act 1988 (as amended by section 69 of the Localism Act 2011).

Decision(s):
- The approved application from Southport Offshore Rescue Trust for 20% discretionary top-up rate relief for the financial year 2026-2027 amounting to £8,526.00, be noted.
- The discretionary top-up rate relief applied for is in respect of the premises at Southport Lifeboat Station, Marine Drive, Southport, PR8 1SD, be noted.
Reasons for the recommendation:
A discretionary top-up rate relief award for the period 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027 will go some way to ensuring that Southport Offshore Rescue Trust is able to positively impact the safety of Sefton’s coastline.
Alternative options considered and rejected:
None. However, Cabinet Member may refuse the application or choose to award a lower level of relief.
