Purpose

The purpose of this report is to seek approval
to the virement of funding from the Council’s Growth Budget
to the Bootle Canalside (Salt n Tar) Capital programme in the sum
of £300,000 to enable the completion of the project as
identified and previously approved as part of the Bootle Canalside
project Business Case.

That a a virement of £300k from the
Growth Budget to the Capital Programme 2023/24 be approved.
 
Reasons for the
Decision(s):
 
To make additional provision within the budget
to cover project costs for the Salt n Tar project event space which
will deliver economic and social benefits to the residents and
businesses of Bootle.

Considered and Rejected: (including any Risk Implications)
 
Options are:
 
Do Nothing - not recommended as an option as
programme of events has been developed and site has to be
completed.
 
Fund the capital works herein via other
funding sources – not recommended given the previous
allocation and approval from Cabinet for the use of funds for the
project proposed.
