Purpose

To seek Cabinet Member approval
for the temporary closure of Coronation Rd, Crosby in various
sections and directions and to introduce a temporary one-way
traffic order on Vale Road and Harrington Road, Crosby at various
times between 22nd April and 12th July
2024.

Resolved: That
 

(1)          
the
temporary closure of Coronation Rd, Crosby in
various sections and at various times between 22nd
April and 12th July 2024 be approved;

 

(2)          
a temporary
one way traffic order for Vale Road and
Harrington Road, Crosby between the 22nd April and
12th July 2024 be approved; and

(3)          
the
necessary legal procedures, including those of public consultation
and advertising the Council’s intention to implement the
Order, be approved.
Reasons for the Decision:
 
The Council has
the power to make temporary Traffic Regulation Orders under Section
14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984
 
Alternative Options
Considered and Rejected: (including any
Risk Implications)
 
The use of temporary traffic
signals was also considered, however due to the size of the
junction and the numerous traffic movements that would need to be
temporarily accommodated it is expected that traffic flow through
the Crosby area would be affected more using this method leading to
excessive delays, and the duration of the works could also be
longer. The previous temporary closure of Coronation Road in both
directions before Christmas had a positive affect on traffic flow movements along the A565 and
between Islington and Coronation Road.
