Purpose

To seek approval to temporarily
close Gloucester Road, Birkdale in various phases, to allow Cadent
Gas to undertake essential gas mains replacement works.

(1) 
The the temporary closure of the carriageway of
Gloucester Road, Birkdale be approved.
 

(2) 
the necessary legal procedures, including those of
public consultation and advertising the Council’s intention
to implement the Order, be approved.
 

Reasons for the Decision(s):
 
The Council has the power to
make temporary Traffic Regulation Orders under (Section 14 of the
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984). 
 
Alternative Options
Considered and Rejected: (including any
Risk Implications)
 
The use of temporary traffic
signals was also considered but it was deemed that Lulworth Road
would be affected using this method leading to excessive delays,
and the duration of the works would increase.
