Purpose

To seek approval to temporarily close
Southport Old Road, Formby in various phases, to allow Scottish
Power Energy Networks to install a new 33kv cable.

The temporary closure of the carriageway of Southport Old Road,
Formby be approved.
 

(2) 
The necessary legal procedures, including those of public
consultation and advertising the Council’s intention to
implement the Order, be approved.
 
Reason(s) for the
Decision(s):
 
That a temporary road closure of Southport Old
Road is the safest option to complete this section of works.
 
Alternative Options
Considered and Rejected:
 
Discussions did take place with Merseyside
Police on an alternative route through the Formby By Pass. This
proposal would have reduced the lane widths for a number of months.
This option was rejected by all parties following a site
meeting,
