Standards Committee

The Standards Committee promotes and maintains high standards of conduct for Sevenoaks District Council Members and Co-opted Members. It advises the Council on its Code of Conduct, provides training, and oversees the process for handling complaints about potential breaches.

The committee also advises and assists Parish and Town Councils and their councillors in maintaining similar standards. It monitors the operation of the Council's Code of Conduct, reviews procedures for registering members' interests, and acts as an advisory body on ethical governance matters. The committee can also grant dispensations to allow members to participate in decisions where they might otherwise have a disclosable interest, if it is in the public interest.
