Reasons for
Decision

9.3.1

The
recommendation to approve the proposed admission arrangements for
2026/27 will ensure that the Authority carries out its statutory
duty to consult and determine its admission arrangements for the
2026/27 academic year, including:

1.
The oversubscription criteria (Including external
Sixth Forms).

2.
The proposed Admission Numbers.

3.
The statutory Primary and Secondary co-ordinated
admission schemes.

9.4

Alternatives Considered and
Rejected

9.4.1

There have not been any proposals to change the
current Admission Arrangements. The outturns presented at 6.1.1
above confirm a very high level of preferences met. It is not
possible to achieve 100% outcomes because demand will always be
higher than available places at a number of schools. Changing the
oversubscription criteria would not necessarily lead to better
outcomes.
