Reasons for Decision
12.3.1
The introduction and implementation of the
Interim Asset Management Strategy is a key component in the Council
responding to the C3 Regulatory Judgement received in July 2024 by
demonstrating that the Council has a robust process in place for
understanding its stock data and demonstrates how the Council will
maintain, improve, and develop their housing stock. Also, the
development and implementation of a documented approach to asset
management will also ensure that residents and stakeholders
understand the Council’s approach to asset management and
asset investment.

Alternatives Considered and Rejected

1:
Do
Nothing:
Not an option as the Council is
subject to a ‘C3’ Regulatory judgement and needs to
demonstrate that it fully understands its asset requirements to
achieve compliance.
12.4.2
Alternative Option 2:
Only Produce a Full
Asset Management Strategy in March 2026
Not an option as the Council has been working
with the Regulator of Social Housing and have agreed to develop an
Interim Asset Management Strategy.
