Purpose
The report seeks agreement for
the former Castelayn and Paddock Hill Residential Care Homes
to be declared surplus as they are no longer
required by the portfolio for service delivery. Partial funding has been secured through the
Brownfield Land Release Fund (BLRF2) for the demolition of the
buildings to enable the sites to be developed. The works that are funded through the BLRF2 must
be in contract before 31 March 2024 and the land must be released
for development before 31 March 2027.
Estates Management Board on 16th October 2023 agreed the
principle of new build housing on these sites to support the
Gleadless Valley Masterplan (subject to the Surplus Declaration
Report).
