Decision
- 1
The Committee considered a report of the Executive Director of Neighbourhood Services providing an update to Committee on the need to retender a Hedge Maintenance contract to support the Parks & Public Realm team to deliver maintenance tasks across the city.
- 2
RESOLVED UNANIMOUSLY: That the Communities, Parks and Leisure Policy Committee:-
(a) Notes the contents of this report.
(b) Approves the commissioning of a Contractor/s contract/s, for the future hedge maintenance work across the Council’s Parks & Public Realm, with an approximate contract value of £610k plus inflation and a contract term of 3 years plus 1.
- 3
Reasons for Decision
- 3.1
Due to procurement legislation and a requirement to provide a green and resilient environment in which the people of Sheffield can thrive and prosper, a tender process is required for the maintenance of hedges and the associated increase in known costs.
- 4
Alternatives Considered and Rejected
- 4.1
Alternative Option 1: To deliver the service with the Parks & Public Realm team.
This option was rejected due to the equipment required for the task being utilised on other grounds maintenance tasks during the operational timeframes. The cost of further equipment and resource makes the option prohibitive.
