The Economic Strategy Manager and Economic Policy Officer were in attendance to provide the second performance report to Committee since agreed on the 23rd of October 2025. The report gave an overview of economic measures and performance on functions within the Committee’s remit, an update on Quarters 3 and 4, provided the annual review for the financial year 2025/26 and identified some measures that would not have updated data until later in the year.

RESOLVED UNANIMOUSLY: That the Economic Development, Skills and Culture Policy Committee:

a)    Notes the contents of the Performance Report, and in doing so give feedback on matters for further improvements and performance monitoring

b)    Approves the recommendation that the next annual performance review occurs in September 2027, in order that regard can be given to key datasets that will be available at that time

Reasons for Decision

1. 3.1

Performance reporting helps to support transparency, accountability and continuous improvement, ensuring that Members are well-informed and able to respond effectively to emerging challenges and opportunities. The Economic Development, Skills and Culture Policy Committee has delegated authority to monitor the performance of its services to ensure that:

-       The service is delivering for the people of Sheffield

-       Limited resources are maximised due to budgetary pressures

-       The Council is delivering on corporate priorities

Alternatives Considered and Rejected

1. 4.1

The Economic Development, Skills and Culture Policy Committee has delegated responsibility for the regular monitoring of data including performance and financial information, and the performance monitoring of Economic Development, Skills and Culture Committee services. Therefore, no alternative options to the production of this report have been considered.
