Reasons for Decision

  1. 3.1

Unpaid Carers make a vital contribution to the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities across Sheffield. We are committed to ensuring carers are recognised, valued and able to access the support they need, with partner continuing to work together to drive improvements and deliver meaningful change for carers throughout the city.

  1. 3.2

Through our shared Carers Strategy and Delivery Plan, organisations across health, social care, education and the voluntary sector are aligning resources, expertise and activity to strengthen support for carers. This collaborative approach helps us meet our collective responsibilities, improve outcomes and ensure carers remain at the heart of service development and decision-making.

Alternatives Considered and Rejected

  1. 4.1

Alternative Option 1: End the Carers Delivery Plan – rejected. This would reduce the focus on delivering the outcomes of the Carers’ Strategy with less accountability for supporting carers across the city.
