Purpose

Further to the Cabinet report of November 2024 which agreed
to conduct a public consultation on the future of library services,
to receive a report and take any decisions on library services
taking account of consultation feedback.

Decision

(a) 
Confirmed the three
priorities set out in the Library Service Strategic Plan

· 
Priority 1: Improved
literacy and love of reading for all residents

· 
Priority 2: Affordable
services available to all users

· 
Priority 3: Levelling
up opportunities for all residents
 
(b) 
Agreed that there will
be a library service delivered across all existing buildings in
Britwell, the Curve, Cippenham and
Langley, until any alternative delivery model is identified in
accordance with recommendation d;
 

(c) 
Agreed to explore an
alternative delivery model to enhance all current buildings and the
services offered to continue the delivery of library services
within the local areas,

 

(d) 
Delegated authority to
the Executive Director of Children’s Services, in
consultation with the Lead Member for Education and
Children’s Services and Executive Director Corporate
Resources (Section 151 Officer), to make a decision on the future
delivery model within Cippenham.

 

(e) 
Delegated authority to
the Executive Director of Children’s Services, in
consultation with the Lead Member for Education and
Children’s Services, to review and update the Library Service
Plan taking account of the consultation results.
