About

The Governance Committee oversees several non-executive council functions, including elections, the status of areas and individuals, and the power to create or change byelaws. It also handles matters related to staff and superannuation, the Council's Constitution, Standing Orders, financial administration, and appointments to external bodies. Additionally, the committee reviews appeals against council decisions where no other formal appeal process exists. It is responsible for the Council's Code of Conduct for Councillors, promoting high ethical standards among elected members.
