Executive

The Executive is a group of councillors responsible for making key decisions on behalf of Somerset Council. It comprises the Leader of the Council and up to nine Lead Members, each overseeing specific executive functions or portfolios such as finance, adult services, children's services, planning, and environment.

The Executive is accountable for developing council strategy, setting policies, and ensuring the financial and operational performance of services within their designated areas. Their decisions directly impact the delivery of council services and the achievement of the Council Plan and Medium-Term Financial Plan.
