Decision

RESOLVED that the members of the HR Committee agreed to:

1. Note the withdrawal of the Coroners’ Society of England and Wales from national pay bargaining.
2. Approve a 3.2% interim pay award to coroners’ pay for the financial year 2025/26. The recommendation of 3.2% is in line with the nationally agreed pay award for 2025/26 for Chief Officers and the award made to staff on Green Book terms and conditions.
3. Agree that the award is made on an interim basis and subject only to change if either. (a) an alternative national agreement for the financial year 2025/26 is reached through national arrangements (e.g., LGA/CSEW/JNC), or (b) a determination is made by the Lord Chancellor for the financial year 2025/26.
4. Delegate the implementation of changes to the Head of Paid Service should any changes as outlined in 4 above to the coroners’ pay award for the financial year 2025/26 be agreed.
