Decision

The Scrutiny Committee Corporate and Strategic considered and commented on the Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS) for 2027/2028 – 2031/32 and RESOLVED to support the recommendations for the Executive as presented:

·         Note the MTFP and  MTFS 2027/2028 -2031/2032 timelines for reporting to the Executive.

·         Approve the update to the MTFS 2027/2028 – 2031/2032 Strategy Document set out in Appendix A.

The Scrutiny Committee Corporate and Strategic made the following comments.

·         The Committee requested earlier involvement in budget monitoring reports and the development of the Medium Term Financial Plan to enable more effective scrutiny and engagement.

·         The Committee welcomed the opportunity to work with officers to identify areas for spotlight reviews, to ensure focused scrutiny of priority issues.

·         The Committee requested that the CIPFA (Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy) report be presented to the Committee to enable Members to consider its outcomes and implications.
