Decision

Having been duly proposed and seconded, the Executive Resolved to:-

a)    Endorse Future Somerset as the Council’s strategic ambition and long-term direction for how it worked internally and with residents, communities and partners to deliver the Corporate Vision.

b)    Note the Community Working Review and recognise Future Somerset as the Council’s overall response to its findings and to relevant national reforms, including the NHS Ten-Year Plan, Families First reforms and English Devolution and Community Empowerment proposals.

c)    Support the further development of neighbourhood working as part of Future Somerset, recognising that current community engagement and development arrangements would evolve.

d)    Support continued engagement with Members, residents, communities, partners, staff and stakeholders to help shape the Future Somerset approach.

e)    Agree to use Primary Care Network areas (the areas already used by local GP practices) as the basis for neighbourhood teams.

f)      Request Officers develop a revised Council Target Operating Model to support the Future Somerset ambition.

g)    Support the evolution of the current LCN model, with local flexibility to work through existing partner- or community-led arrangements where that better supported place-based working.

h)    Agree to adopt the prevention hierarchy set out within the report.

i)      Request that implementation proposals, measures of success, resource implications and any future governance requirements were brought back to Executive when appropriate.
