Decision
The Adults, Health and Housing Scrutiny Committee considered the Council Housing Stock Management and Performance Report and RESOLVED to note the current performance of the Council's housing stock, landlord services, governance arrangements and regulatory compliance position.
The Committee welcomed the positive performance reported in relation to tenant satisfaction, tenant engagement arrangements and the achievement of full compliance with fire risk assessments following the completion of the improvement action plan. The Committee noted the successful transfer of housing management responsibilities to Homes in Somerset and the establishment of a single countywide tenant representation structure.
The Committee requested to receive regular quarterly reports which should include information on void property performance and turnaround times, together with updates on actions being taken to improve access arrangements for statutory safety inspections where tenants refuse entry.
The Committee further requested that opportunities be explored for scrutiny engagement with major registered social housing providers operating within Somerset, or alternatively that a briefing paper be provided outlining their performance arrangements, governance structures and key performance measures, to assist Members in understanding the wider social housing landscape across the county.
