Purpose
The
purpose of this decision is to provide funding to Comberton Village
College for the creation of a sustainable kitchen garden to grow
vegetables and herbs. This initiative will encourage healthy eating
habits and raise awareness of food waste reduction.
The
garden will be maintained by the school's Food and Nutrition
department, alongside the Adult Community Education department,
which runs classes outside school hours. It will also be integrated
into courses on sustainable garden design. The produce will be
shared across various departments within the school and
incorporated into Food and Nutrition lessons.
Additionally, a community box will be established in the main
reception area, allowing local residents to access fresh produce,
further strengthening community engagement and sustainability
efforts.
