Cabinet notes the petition submitted and recognises the significant financial pressures faced by residents who are eligible for Council Tax Support, and is committed to ensuring that our approach to Council Tax collection is fair, proportionate, and sensitive to vulnerability.
Cabinet notes, the Council has one of the most generous schemes of Council Tax Support among in our region and recognises the importance of early intervention to help residents and avoid people falling into arrears. Accordingly, continues to review our policies and practices to ensure they align with best practice.
Cabinet remains committed to working constructively with residents to resolve arrears in a sustainable way, and we will continue to strengthen our preventative and support-focused approach.
