Purpose
On 30 June 2023 the
Grants Advisory Committee reviewed the Care Together Seed Funding
for Mobile Warden Schemes report as detailed in
agenda item 5 of the meeting reports pack. This includes details
of creation of a one-off grant fund to be created using
£28,500 of funding provided to SCDC by the County Council
under grant agreement.
After consideration,
the Committee recommended to the Lead Cabinet Member for Resources
that £7,500 of the Care Together Seed Funding is to be
allocated to the Melbourn Mobile Warden Scheme (MMWS) for the
purposes of taking over the management of the Harston &
District Village Warden Trust (HVWT).
A decision on how to
administer the remaining £21,000 is deferred as detailed
below.
Content
To accept the recommendations
of the Grants Advisory Committee to
administer a direct grant of £7,500 to MMWS for taking over
the management of the HVWT scheme and to defer the decision about
how to administer the remaining £21,000.
Reasons for the decision
The
request was considered in detail by the Grants Advisory Committee
and there is sufficient budget available.
Alternative options considered
To
reject or vary the recommendations of the Grants Advisory Committee
and allocate £28,500 of Cambridgeshire
County Council Care Together Seed Funding to South Cambridgeshire
Mobile Warden schemes as presented, with alterations to the
criteria at Appendix A (giving details and reasons) or defer a decision if further information is
required.
As per
above, the decision to administer the £21,000 of
Cambridgeshire County Council Care Together Seed Funding through a
one-off grant scheme, with criteria as proposed in Appendix A has
been deferred, pending the creation of alternative options to
increase awareness of the schemes and promote the services offered,
the aim being to increase numbers of service users and ensure the
continuation of face-to-face visits at a reasonable
cost.
