The South Gloucestershire Planning Committee is responsible for deciding on certain planning applications that meet specific referral thresholds, following significant changes to national planning regulations. The committee undertakes site visits to understand application sites in context.
Under new regulations, most planning applications are now determined by planning officers. However, the Planning Committee will consider Schedule 2 applications if they have significant economic, social, or environmental implications for the local area, or involve substantial planning matters. Ward members and Group Planning Leads can comment on whether a Schedule 2 application should be referred to the committee.
