Full council record
Purpose
To consider renewing the current Spalding Town Public Space Protection Order
Decision
1) That the content of the report be noted
2) That the Spalding Public Space Protection Order, covering the area set out in Appendix A, be renewed for a further 3 year period to December 2026 with existing conditions
3) That areas suggested through the public consultation, to be included within the PSPO area, should be closely monitored through patrols and reviewed annually and to vary the current Order if appropriate to do so.
4) To review current signage
Reasons for the decision
To ensure that enforcement action can be taken against those causing anti-social behaviour within the town centre, ensuring that those living, working and visiting the area feel safe.
For those areas not already covered that have been suggested by the public, additional patrols will be put in place to monitor the areas.
Alternative options considered
Option 1: Do nothing. This would mean that the existing PSPO would cease at midnight on 21st December 2023
Option 2: That the PSPO is agreed but its conditions are varied. There is no supporting evidence for this.
