Purpose

To approve a funding award of £200,000 to the Berin Centre, Berinsfield towards provision of a Community Café through the council’s pilot CIL grant scheme and to release the approved funding subject to a third-party funding agreement.

Decision

To approve the use of £200,000 from the South Oxfordshire District Council’s pilot Community Infrastructure Levy Grant Scheme, as set out in the Council’s 2023/24 capital budget.

1)    To approve the request from The Berin Centre for £200,000 towards the new community café and multi-purpose space building at The Berin Centre, Wimblestraw Road, Berinsfield.

2)    To transfer £200,000 from the provisional capital budget of £750,000 (scheme number 395) to the approved capital programme.

3)    Delegate to officers to enter into a funding agreement with The Berin Centre that governs the release of funds and sets out project monitoring and claw back clauses.

4)    To release funds to The Berin Centre, in accordance with the funding agreement on receipt of the signed and sealed legal agreement.
