The Public Scrutiny Board is central to the
Mayor and Deputy Mayor’s broader arrangements for holding the
Chief Constable / South Yorkshire Police (SYP) to account for the
exercise of the Chief Constable’s functions, including
performance against the Mayor’s Police and Crime Plan.
The Scrutiny Board takes place monthly, with
four meetings taking place in public a year.
This Board is where the Deputy Mayor will
discuss and scrutinise key issues across the totality of SYP
activity, with each meeting focussing on a
number of specific themes or areas (eg specific Police and Crime Plan priorities).
Subsequent meetings will then focus on other
themes or areas. Over time, all activity will have been considered
(as many areas will not require scrutiny every two months, or can be updated outside the formal
meeting).
