About

The Health Overview & Scrutiny Committee reviews and scrutinises health services in Southend-on-Sea, as required by statute. It examines the planning, provision, and operation of local health services, including those commissioned or delivered by NHS bodies. The committee can request information and hold discussions with health officials. It scrutinises arrangements for hospital and community health services, family health services, public health, and health service planning. The committee also reviews social care services and acts as a consultee on substantial health service developments or variations. It has the power to refer contested major service changes to the Secretary of State.
