Purpose

To approve the award
of small grants for special educational needs and/or disabilities
(SEND) workshops, trips and family events, as well as for SEND
special interest clubs and activities.

Decision

1. 
That the award of five small grants for special educational
needs and/or disabilities (SEND) workshops, trips and family
events at a total value of £19,503.05 to complement the
core short breaks contracts for 2025-26 be
approved. 
 
2. 
That the award of seven small grants for SEND special interest
clubs and activities for young people 16+ at a total value of
£61,891.00 to complement the core short breaks contracts for
2025-26 be approved.  
 
3. 
That it be noted that the proposed grants will
utilise: 
 
· 
£23,949.20 which has been set aside from the targeted short
breaks budget following 2024-27 contract awards. This enables the
council to award annual grants to local providers, diversifying the
short breaks offer and supporting grass roots organisations
 
· 
£57,444.85 from the £208,595.00 of additional short
breaks funding that was authorised at the
Children’s and Adults board on 11 September 2024. 
 
4. 
That it be noted that these activities will ensure that children
and young people with SEND and their families have access to a
broad range of activities during evenings, weekends and school
holidays.
