Purpose
To award grants to successful
applications as part of the Southwark Biodiversity Fund
Decision
That the Cabinet
Member for Climate Emergency, Jobs & Business;
Approves grant funding for greening and nature projects
recommended for funding by the council’s Southwark
Biodiversity Fund (SBF) assessment panel (subject to conditions).
These projects are detailed in paragraph 45 of the
report.
Agrees
the increase to the grant budget for the fund from the
£500,000 agreed in August 2024 (refer to appendix 1 to view
previous decision) to £550,000 in order
to accommodate this recommendation. This increase will be
drawn from the existing £1m budget commitment to biodiversity
projects within the Climate Capital Fund.
Delegates future grant allocations or
amendments, in the event of underspend on any agreed projects, to
the Strategic Director of Environment,
Sustainability & Leisure,in consultation
with the Cabinet Member for Climate Emergency, Jobs & Business.
Such allocations must remain within the £550,000 grant
budget.
