Approval of award of the main works contract for the construction of Beormund Primary School at the former Bellenden School site

Decision

  1. That the award of the second stage Design and Build Contract for the construction of Beormund Primary School to Neilcott Construction Limited (Neilcott) for a total construction value of £ 14,949,861 for a period of 75 weeks commencing in May 2025, be approved.
  2. That it be noted that the Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Children, Young People Education and Refugees delegated authority for the Gateway 2 award decisions for the construction of Beormund Primary School to the Strategic Director of Children’s and Adults’ Services in the Gateway 1 report dated February 2023.
  3. That the Strategic Director of Children and Adult Services formalise the prior approval given by the Director of Children and Families, for placing early orders in advance of the award of the Second Stage Design and Build Contract to Neilcott, for Highway and excavation works, as outlined in paragraph 31 of this report, with a total value of £123,000 for a period of 8 weeks commencing in April 2025. These orders will be subsumed into the Second Stage Design and Build Contract outlined in Recommendation 1 of this report.
