Purpose

To implement a School Street in Redriff
Primary School (Cow Lane) introducing timed road closures during
school start and finish times to improve safety and air
quality.

Decision

1. 
That the School Street
proposal detailed in the design drawing to this report and
summarised in paragraph
13, implemented by way of powers
under the Highways Act 1980 (“the 1980 Act”), the Road
Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the 1984 Act”), and
orders made under the 1984 Act, subject to the outcome of any
necessary statutory consultation and procedures, be
approved.
 
2. 
That officers be
instructed to make the necessary Traffic Management Orders
(“TMOs”) in accordance with sections 6 and 124 of the
1984 Act, subject to statutory consultation carried out pursuant to
the Local Authorities Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and
Wales) Regulations 1996 (“the 1996
Regulations”).
 
3. 
That officers be instructed to carry
out the necessary statutory consultation for the proposed School
Street at Redriff Primary School in
accordance with the 1984 Act and all relevant statutory
requirements.
 
4. 
That it be noted that, in the event objections to the TMOs
for the proposed School Street at Redriff Primary School are received following
statutory consultation, a further report will be presented to the
Cabinet Member for determination.
