The Cabinet Member for Communities, Democracy and Finance, on 10 July 2023, approved the new Southwark Cost of Living response for April 2023 to March 2024, adopting a "Cash First" approach to distributing support. This includes a £11m Southwark Cost of Living Fund, holiday free school meals, and additional rent and council tax support for vulnerable households.

This involves implementing permit parking bays and double yellow lines on specific roads, and the zone will operate from Monday to Saturday, 8:30 am to 6:30 pm.
