Purpose
Approval of contract extension to Spokemead Ltd and BCS Ltd for 8 months
Decision
- That the variation of the Communal Lighting and Electrical Testing Contract A (north of the borough) to BCS Electrical and Building Ltd. (BCS) to extend the term of the contract for an additional period of eight months from 1 September 2026 to 30 April 2027 be approved. The eight-month period is estimated to cost £5.8m. Due to an underspend in previous years, no additional funding is required for approval for this extension. The total estimated contract value is revised downward to £48.94m.
- That the variation of the Communal Lighting and Electrical Testing Contract B (south of the borough) to Spokemead Maintenance Ltd. (Spokemead) to extend the term of the contract for an additional period of eight months from 1 September 2026 to 30 April 2027 be approved. The eight-month period is estimated to cost £7.27m. Due to an underspend in previous years, the additional funding required for approval for this extension is £5.27m. The total revised estimated contract value is £61.82m.
- That it be noted that the annual Building Maintenance Indices (BMI) uplift, due in April 2026 in accordance with the contract provisions, has been applied to both Contracts A and B. The resultant updated contract values will be reflected within the deed of variation associated with the proposed contract extension.
