The Strategic Director of Environment, Sustainability and Leisure approved the award of the Castle Leisure Centre decarbonisation works contract to Alternative Heat Ltd. for £2,911,268.86 on 17 July 2026. This decision includes the full decarbonisation of the centre by removing the gas-fired heating system and installing low-carbon energy systems. The decision also approves a variation to the scope of works to derisk the programme.
