Decision

The Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways & Transport Services has considered a number of objections received in relation to the proposed Traffic Regulation Orders associated with the Marple Community Hub development, comprising a 20mph speed limit, waiting restrictions, and the provision of a Zebra crossing and Toucan Crossing on various roads in Marple as detailed within the report, and has agreed that, notwithstanding the objections, the orders be made as advertised and that the  Zebra Crossing and Toucan Crossing be constructed as proposed.

The Marple Area Committee considered the proposals at its meeting on 17 June 2026 and agreed that the recommendations should be adopted.

Alternative options considered

1. Implement the TROs and crossings as advertised (recommended).

2. Retain the existing highway layout (rejected because it would not deliver the required safety and accessibility improvements).

3. Alternative crossing designs and locations were assessed during scheme development but rejected in favour of the current approved design following consultation, safety audits and planning approval.
