Decision

The Cabinet Member has given approval to the July 2026 update of the Stockport Local Development Scheme (LDS) set out in Appendix A to this report.

(NOTE: The decision has been made exempt from call-in on the grounds that the Council has been directed to update and publish a revised Local Development Scheme no later than 15th July 2026. A delay in the implementation of the LDS would prejudice the interests of the Council and wider borough. Failure to implement the requirements of the ministerial direction would be likely to to cause administrative, financial, or other difficulty, or the loss of a significant opportunity to benefit, either for the individual(s)/organisations(s) concerned and/or the Council, so that it would clearly be sensible and consistent with the Council's fiduciary and legal obligations to deal with the matter without delay).

Alternative options considered

As the Council has sought the agreement of the Government to amend the ministerial direction to ensure that the local plan can continue to progress as a robust and legally sound document, it was not necessary to consider alternative options .
