Decision

Each year, the Council is required to make six nominations to the Greater Manchester Overview and Scrutiny Committee. Four of these nominations are required to be from the ‘ruling group’, and a further two from the opposition.

At the Annual Meeting of the Council on 26 May 2026, approval was given to the nomination of four members from the Liberal Democrat Group. It was noted within the report that a further two nominations were being carried as vacancies to which the Labour Group was entitled to nominate.

Following consultation with the Mayor, the Chief Executive has now given approval to the nomination of Councillors Dena Ryness and Rachel Wise to fill the remaining to two vacancies.

This matter has been dealt with urgently in advance of the next meeting of the Council to ensure that these nominations can be received by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority at its forthcoming meeting on 26 June 2026 thereby allowing Stockport to be fully represented on the Greater Manchester Overview & Scrutiny Committee.
