That the Leader authorises the release of funding to the value of £10,000 to the Stratford Literary Festival.

Reasons for the decision

The festival runs two events a year, one in Spring and one in Autumn The recent Autumn festival was a success bringing in significant visitors to support the local economy. It also appeals to locals in equal measure as they are doing outreach work with schools and prisons etc. There is a potential funding shortfall, and the organisers are seeking financial support of £10,000 to support further marketing of the festival and to allow them to reach a wider audience of people and therefore bringing more people to Stratford.

It is inline with the Council’s Growing Opportunities Plan.

Alternative options considered

1      To give authority to proceed with the release of the funding.

2      To not approve the release of the funding.

3      To suggest an alternative solution.
