Decision

To act as ‘Accountable Body’ in support of a bid to be submitted by Beaudesert and Henley in Arden Joint Parish Council.

Reasons for the decision

The UK Town of Culture 2028 offers the possibility of securing up to £3m of investment for one of the District’s main centres. For the bid to be acceptable MHCLG require the support of an Accountable Body and have suggested that SDC would be appropriate.

A successful bid should improve Health, Wellbeing and Economic Prosperity in and around Henley in Arden in line with the aspirations set out within the Council Plan.    

Alternative options considered

1. To support the request to be the Accountable Body for the bid.
2. To decline to support the request to be the Accountable Body for the bid.
