Reasons for the decision

The property belongs jointly to Stratford upon Avon Town Trust and to the Council (the latter’s share is 81.3%).

It is occupied as a bank available to provide services to the public and businesses.

Agents for the Council and the Trust have discussed and agreed terms with agents for Barclays and in addition, the Council is represented by its Legal Services.

In addition to the new lease, the decision also includes the granting of a licence to consent to some works to be carried out by the tenant.

Alternative options considered

1.   Agree to grant the lease and the licence to consent to works; or

2.   Decline to grant the lease and the licence to consent to works.
