Purpose

To enable the Council to deliver on its water
hygiene requirements, it is necessary to enter a contract with a
third party to provide minor repairs, PPM's (Planned preventative
maintenance). SMS was rated top contractor through a framework and
was awarded a direct contract.

Decision

To enter contract with SMS Environmental for
water hygiene services, PPM's and minor repairs to housing
properties.

Reasons for the decision

Alternative options considered

Council considered proving water management
services in-house. However, the size and scale of the project was
compared against the existing resources, skills and capabilities
and it was determined that contracting with a third party would be
lower risk and would provide the best value for money for the
Council.
