About
The Licensing Committee is responsible for a wide range of licensing functions as defined by national regulations. This includes making decisions on applications and enforcing regulations related to the Licensing Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2005, excluding policy statements.
The committee also handles licensing for hackney carriages, private hire vehicles, street trading, caravan sites, food businesses, scrap metal dealers, and animal welfare. It has the authority to hear cases where applicants have a right to be heard and can designate public places for alcohol consumption restrictions. The committee also advises on financial matters and schemes of delegation for its functions.
